My name is Maurice Chandler. I am a product from the city of Camden which is In South Jersey. I am the youngest out of 3 children. My educational background consists of me obtaining an associate of science degree, and a bachelor’s in business administration degree. I am also an entrepreneur and an investor while working full time as a finance, accounts receivable representative. Some things I love to do in my spare time is reading, working out, running, road cycling, watching sports, watching comedies, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

What you will learn with this Book

My book provides insight about my life and my community. I describe my mindset from a child into adulthood, explaining how the odds were stacked against myself and many others from my neighborhood. The system was designed to keep me living in the same city where I was raised. We didn’t have much growing up and I explained how not having the necessities in life influenced me in school. Eventually, with my back against the wall caused me to make some risky decisions that put my life in danger. Desperate times caused me to take desperate measures. Which one wrong move or dealings with the wrong person, at the wrong time, would’ve literally cost me my life.

I go into detail how I evolved over the years, going from someone who didn’t care about learning to someone who loves, and looks forward to always learning. I had to transition into the workforce which wasn’t easy for me. I came to the realization that I developed some very bad habits from being in the streets. Luckily for me is I held myself accountable and saw most of the areas in which I was lacking and knew I had to improve if I wanted to make it in this world.

My story is very relatable to a lot of people coming from areas where I come from. Not only did I explain how my experiences and lack of education prohibited me from being the best version of myself. I also go into detail about how my vices played a big part in my life and how I almost allowed it to destroy me in so many ways. I dealt with chasing money and women. Drinking alcohol, smoking weed, and gambling all day everyday while not looking to better myself. My days became very dark where I was lost and didn’t understand how I got in the many situations I had gotten into. I became complacent and comfortable with being mediocre, typical, and average. I continued to put myself in deeper holes everyday making decisions that caused my life to continue to go down.

I explain how my lifestyle changed from self-destruction to self-love. How I went from being lazy, and making excuses to someone that works hard at everything and I always hold myself accountable and don’t make excuses. I grew tired of my condition and where my life was headed and knew, I needed to change the way I was living. I got tired of talking about doing better, so I started to do the work.

Maurice Chandler, all I can say is wow!!! I read your book in two weekends, which I have not been able to do in years because I always fall asleep reading. Not this book. First, I was humbled to be mentioned with my dad and Ginger in the book. It was completely unexpected. At the risk of sounding condescending, which it totally is not, this is all coming from a place of love and respect, I am truly incredibly proud of you. Proud that you actually wrote an entire book, which is no small undertaking. Proud that you had the courage to share your story and that it will resonate with people who may be young and at a crossroads or wanting to find a way out of their situation. But mostly I am so incredibly proud and grateful that you saw that your life as it was was not serving you and that you put in all the work and time that it took to make the life you wanted for yourself. You deserve it. You’ve always deserved it. Wishing you continued success and happiness in the rest of your journey. I know you’re going to continue to create more success for yourself. 😊

I did it! I finished all 401 pages of this autobiography. In 4 days. 🙌🏽 Thank you for the trip down memory lane Maurice Chandler. This book was so nostalgic. I truly got to relive my childhood reading this (And thank you for the mini shout out. I was like “hey, that's me”😝). But no, I'm truly proud of you. I'm SO very glad that I only knew Reecee and not Reece. Cuz whew More than that, I'm truly glad that God has ALWAYS had his hand on you and eyes still have not seen, not ears heard, nor has it entered into anyone's heart what you shall be. The dash is not complete yet. 🙌🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Y'all, get the book. There's life lessons up in here. We need this to be an audio book, a documentary and curriculum for JJC. #RealTalk (I've got you if you want to make this into a curriculum Reece).

You will discover to value our time, it's precious and we can't get it back. Use our mistakes as an opportunity to learn and develop. We all must have control over our minds, body, and soul. Never allow anyone, system, or substance control our minds. Life's a marathon and not a sprint. It's not how you start but, how you finish. As we grow and evolve physically, so must the way we think.
